The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Fans' Season 2 Predictions — With Some Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.

Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.

"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
